Workspaces and broadcast
Workspaces: reopen a set of servers in one click
Handy for the servers you always open together — for a deployment, an on-call shift or an incident.
- Open Workspaces from the left bar and click + New workspace (top right).
- Give it a name and tick the servers it should open. The servers you have open as tabs are ticked for you; Select the tabs open now ticks exactly those, Clear unticks all, and the filter box narrows a long list.
- Click Save workspace.
Your workspaces are listed right below as cards. Want one key to open it? Add a shortcut for it in Keyboard shortcuts.
Next time, click Open on the workspace: all its servers open in tabs. Edit changes its name or servers; Update to open tabs replaces its servers with the tabs open right now. Deleting a workspace never deletes the servers.
Workspaces belong to your account. A workspace only keeps servers you can open; if one is later deleted or no longer shared with you, it's skipped when you open the workspace.
Broadcast: type once, run everywhere
Broadcast sends what you type to every open SSH tab at once — for example to check a setting or restart a service on several servers.
- Open the servers in tabs.
- Click Broadcast at the top right (or press Alt+Shift+M). It shows Broadcasting while it's on.
- Type the command. When you press Enter, FusionTerm shows the command and the list of servers it will run on — click Run on all to go ahead, or Cancel.
- Click Broadcasting again to turn it off.
Important: a command that's wrong for one server is wrong for all of them. Read the confirmation list before you click Run on all.
