Troubleshooting
The page doesn't open
- Is the container running?
docker psshould listfusiontermas Up (healthy). - Is the port published?
docker psmust show0.0.0.0:5577->5577/tcp. If it only shows5577/tcp, the container was started without-p 5577:5577(common with Docker Desktop's Run button) — remove it and start it again with the port. See Install. - Port already in use? Another program (or a second FusionTerm) has 5577. Use another one, for example
-p 5578:5577. - From another computer: check the server's firewall allows the port.
- Look at the log:
docker logs fusionterm.
Sign-in doesn't stick
You sign in and land back on the sign-in screen, or two-factor setup shows no QR code and says Not authenticated.
- Over plain
http://: sign-in says "This FusionTerm only keeps you signed in over HTTPS". Start FusionTerm withFORCE_SECURE_COOKIE=false(evaluation only) — or set up HTTPS. - Behind an HTTPS proxy: the proxy must send
X-Forwarded-Proto: https. - Two FusionTerms on one computer (for example on ports 5577 and 5578): browsers share sign-in cookies between ports of the same name. Open one as
localhostand the other as127.0.0.1.
Locked out
"Too many failed sign-in attempts from this network"? Wait the minutes shown — trying again while blocked makes the wait 30 minutes — or ask an administrator: Settings → Users → Manage → Unlock sign-in (people with a block show a Sign-in blocked badge). See Security.
Lost your authenticator phone? On the sign-in step, click Use a recovery code — see Two-factor sign-in.
Forgot your password, or no recovery codes? Ask an administrator: Settings → Users → Manage has Reset password and Reset two-factor.
The only administrator is locked out? Whoever runs the FusionTerm server can reset it there:
docker exec fusionterm node server/server.js list-users docker exec -it fusionterm node server/server.js reset-password <username>It prints a temporary password, unlocks the account, turns off two-factor (add
--keep-2fato leave it on) and signs the account out everywhere. Sign in with the temporary password; FusionTerm then asks you to choose a new one (and, for an administrator, to set up two-factor again). The reset is recorded in the audit log.
RDP won't connect
- RDP needs the guacd container. With Docker Compose it's included; with
docker run, startguacamole/guacdand setGUACD_HOST. The log saysguacd listening … yeswhen FusionTerm can reach it. - Check the Windows server allows Remote Desktop and that FusionTerm's server can reach port 3389.
- "Certificate" errors: tick Ignore certificate errors in the server's settings (most internal servers use self-signed certificates).
- Wrong user name? For domain accounts, fill in Domain.
SSH says "host key changed"
The server's identity is different from last time. See Host key checks — only accept if you know why.
SSH authentication fails
- Check the username and password or key in the server's settings.
- Keys: OpenSSH or PEM format (convert PuTTY
.ppkfirst) and the right passphrase. - Signing in with a vault entry? If the entry was deleted or unshared, the server can't connect until you pick another one.
The CPU / memory / disk bar is missing
It only appears for Linux servers (it reads /proc). Network devices, macOS and BSD don't show it — that's expected.
The phone can't connect
- The phone must reach the FusionTerm server's address — same Wi-Fi, VPN, or your public HTTPS name.
localhostnever works from a phone. - Admins: set Settings → Connect a phone → Public address, and allow the port through the server's firewall.
- The Android app needs the Gold plan or above; the phone browser works on every plan.
- Android won't install the app? Allow installs from your browser or Files app when Android asks ("Install unknown apps"). It needs Android 8 or newer.
File manager: "Permission denied"
Your user isn't allowed to change that file. Use sudo mode if you have sudo rights on the server.
"Saved connections limit" or "no free user seats"
Your plan's limit is reached — see Plans and licenses.
Something broke after an update
Go back to the previous version using the automatic backup — see Updates and backups.
