Add a VNC or Telnet server
Like RDP, VNC and Telnet sessions open in a tab through the guacd gateway that runs next to FusionTerm — the Docker Compose install includes it.
VNC (Linux and Mac desktops)
- In Sessions, click +.
- Type: VNC · Linux / Mac desktop.
- Fill in Name, Host and Port (usually 5900; display
:1is 5901). Username is optional — most VNC servers only ask for a password. Enter the password, or Sign in with a vault login. - Click Save & connect.
To reach a Mac, turn on System Settings → General → Sharing → Screen Sharing and, under its options, allow VNC viewers with a password.
The desktop is scaled to fit the tab (VNC servers can't change their screen size on request). Paste and Ctrl+Alt+Del work as for RDP.
Telnet (switches, routers and older devices)
- In Sessions, click +.
- Type: Telnet · older devices.
- Fill in Name, Host, Port (usually 23), Username and the password.
- Click Save & connect.
FusionTerm types the username and password when the device shows its login: and Password: prompts.
Important: Telnet is not encrypted — the password and everything you type travel across the network in plain text. Telnet tabs are marked not encrypted. Use SSH whenever the device supports it, and Telnet only on a network you trust.
