Export and import your servers

Take your saved servers to another FusionTerm, or keep a personal copy, with Settings → Backup & restore sessions.

Export

  1. Choose a backup password (at least 8 characters).
  2. Click Download Backup.

You get one encrypted file with all your own saved servers — including saved passwords and keys, folders, jump-host links and RDP settings. Shared connections aren't included (they belong to the company, not to you).

Important: the backup password can't be recovered. Without it, the file can't be opened — by you or anyone else.

Import

  1. Click Restore From File and choose the backup file.
  2. Enter its backup password.

The servers are added to your list. It works on any FusionTerm, not only the one that made the file.

Import from MobaXterm, PuTTY, SSH config or CSV

Moving from another tool? Settings → Backup & restore sessions → Import from another app:

  1. Export your sessions from the other app:
    • MobaXterm: Settings → Configuration → General → Export sessions (a .mxtsessions file). MobaXterm's MobaXterm.ini works too.
    • PuTTY: export its sessions from the Windows registry: in a command prompt, run reg export HKCU\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY\Sessions putty-sessions.reg.
    • OpenSSH: your ~/.ssh/config file — choose it, or paste it under …or paste the text.
    • Anything else: a CSV file with the columns name, host, port, username, protocol, folder (protocol is ssh, rdp, vnc or telnet). Download a CSV template gives you an example.
  2. Choose the file. FusionTerm recognises the format and shows a preview: every session it found, its type, address and folder, and the reason for any it can't bring over (for example MobaXterm FTP or serial sessions).
  3. Untick anything you don't want, then click Import.

What comes along: names, addresses, ports, usernames, folders (MobaXterm sub-folders become "Customers / Acme"), session types (SSH, RDP, VNC, Telnet), and SSH jump hosts when the jump host is in the same import. Passwords and keys don't — the other apps keep them encrypted or in other files. After importing, edit each session to add its password or key, or link a vault entry. The preview shows which key file each session used.

Servers you already have (same type, host, port and username) are skipped unless you untick Skip servers I already have. You can import up to 2,000 sessions at a time.

This is a personal export. To back up a whole FusionTerm — every user, the vault and settings — see Updates and backups.
