Port forwarding (tunnels)

A tunnel reaches a service on a server's network — a database, an internal dashboard — through the SSH connection you already have open.

  1. In an SSH tab, click Tunnels.
  2. Pick a preset (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, Web, HTTPS, RDP) or type the ports:
    • Local port — the port the tunnel opens (1024–65535).
    • Remote host — localhost for a service on the server itself, or another machine it can reach.
    • Remote port — the service's port.
  3. Click Start tunnel. Running tunnels are listed with Copy (the address) and Stop. Closing the tab stops its tunnels.

Important: the tunnel opens on the FusionTerm server (address 127.0.0.1), not on your own computer. It's useful for tools running on the FusionTerm server itself. To reach a database from your laptop, use your SSH client's own port forwarding, or run your database tool where FusionTerm runs. When FusionTerm runs in Docker, the tunnel is inside the FusionTerm container.

Every tunnel started is recorded in the audit log.
